The electronic controller of the misting unit automatically begins a mosquito-killing mist that lasts from 30 to 60 seconds, first around dawn and again at dusk. In addition, the systems have features specifically designed for the prevention of a siphon in the nozzle circuit. They also recognize the presence of leaks and shut off until the leak is fully repaired. Another great feature is a sensor that prevents the system from turning on in high winds. Agitation prior to each mist cycle ensures that the concentration of insecticide is always consistent.

Safety Spray

The botanical insecticides used in MistAway systems – natural pyrethrins and synthetic permethrin – are the most commonly used formulations for mist mosquito treatments. Because they are low in toxicity to people and animals, they are also common ingredients in home-use insect control products such as household aerosol products and pet shampoos. Even so, close or frequent direct contact with the mist is not advisable, as respiratory problems include coughing and wheezing may result from inhaling them. Rashes or itching may result from skin contact.
